The Fayette County Sheriff's Department asks that you slow down and take your time when driving on wet or snow covered roads during the winter months. Allow extra time in your travels for highway salt/plow trucks, road closings, school buses, accidents and inclimate weather.

please remember to slow down, stop and/or move over for emergency vehicles. this includes Police vehicles, Ambulances, Fire trucks, Snow removal/ Highway maintenance vehicle and recovery vehicles (wreckers).


Accident Reports



To obtain a copy of a Accident Report. Please contact the Sheriff's Department at 765-825-1110 ext. 229.

Please have the name, location and date of accident. This will speed up the process of locating the correct accident.

The Secretary can be contacted during the hours 8:30 A.M. and  4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday, excluding Holidays, vacations, sick days and lunch hour.


If involved in a motor vehicle accident, please have the following items ready for officers: Driver's license, vehicle registration and a current copy of your insurance card.

Indiana law requires that all operator's of a motor vehicle provide "Proof of Financial Responsibility" under I.C.         9-25-4
